Drying Dahlias: Making the most of the bountiful blooms
So often thought of as short-lived, dahlias can in fact be dried, their shape and colour lasting well beyond the season
I’ve had the greatest pleasure and privilege of working with Crocus this year. Crocus are an online garden centre and having worked with them for the last eight months I can, with my hand on my heart, tell you that they source and grow the best plants I have ever grown. And the dahlias I have grown this year have been no exception to that. Every single variety has blown me away with its beauty and have been so prolific in their flowering. When most other things have struggled in the heat and drought, the dahlias just keep on giving.
I’ve been gifting bunches to friends, bringing armfuls in to the house with plenty left to cut and dry. With a wedding coming up in Autumn, I need lots of stems for bud vases on the tables. They are my absolute favourite structural flowers for bud vases in autumn.
Sharing here my top tips for growing and drying dahlias and if you’re looking to source the very best dahlias then can I please suggest you head to Crocus later in the year - use BEX15 to get 15% off your order
