I quite like a challenge and when writing and conceptualising projects and pages for my new book, I had to dream up new makes and methods for projects that are easy to make with bits and pieces found at home.

The book is centred around creativity and nature and so where possible the projects inside the book are made using natural materials found in nature. In the past I had always used chicken wire to create flower clouds, but I have found it harsh and unforgiving. The chicken wire and its brutality feel at total odds with the delicate nature of dried flowers. So instead, I began manipulating vines to create cute little bird nests. Wound tightly enough together to hold individual stems of flowers, the nest bases become part of the clouds themselves, allowing for a more open, organic appearance.

Read on to learn how to create your own hanging flower cloud, perfect for over the top of a the table on Christmas day.
