Leaves - the art of drying
This Autumn I feel deeply in love with leaves. With the crunch of them under foot, the magical making of leaf mulch, the watching of them as they fall slowly to the ground.
Most of the leaves around us have now fallen, the storms of the last week stripping the branches bare. It was a gorgeous and generous autumn, the valley views on the school run breathtaking with burnt embers and fiery reds. Captivating in every way.
From my bedroom window I’ve watched my favourite tree in the garden loose it’s cloak. A specimen gingko, towering high above the house shifting from a vibrant green to buttery yellow. Those heart shaped leaves that fluttered to the ground, now gathered and sitting safely in the press to be played with next year when time feels more expansive.
